Sedgehogs
Sedgehogs flies come into their own in the summer from June until the end of the season. Their design, with wings of buoyant deer hair make them ideal top of the water flies when sedge are hatching. I have added legs to some of my patterns as the daddy long legs are also on the water at this time and the leggy versions are very successful, . They are used for both trout and salmon fishing, see: Claret Sedgehog Salmon and Sooty Olive Sedgehog Salmon.
